O'Grady was born to Jim O'Grady and Jan O'Grady. Jim O'Grady works as a financial advisor. The family was raised by her parents at home in Wheaton (Illinois) where she completed her studies in 1981 at Wheaton's North High School. She appeared in some commercials prior to her move from Illinois' Wheaton to Los Angeles. The career path O'Grady began her career as the model of Montgomery Ward, and well performing commercials in a variety of ways.
